Table Talk Online: Celebrating Women’s Activism

WCC invites you to our next Table Talk Online: Celebrating Women’s Activism on Thursday, December 10th from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

This edition of Table Talk in partnership with the WomensActivism.NYC, featuring Spirit Tawfiq will focus on the work of WomensActivism.NYC’s goal to collect 20,000 stories by the end of 2020 to honor the anniversary of women winning the right to vote in New York State in 1917 and in the United States in 1920. Participants will learn about this historic opportunity to collect untold stories about amazing NYC women and get guidance about how to write and submit their own stories.

Spirit Tawfiq is the project coordinator for WomensActivism.NYC, a project spearheaded by the NYC Dept. of Records & Information Services (Municipal Archives) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in the United States. WomensActivism.NYC features women activists and change-makers – known and unknown – from NYC, the nation, and the globe! The stories collected will be preserved in the archive in perpetuity.

(Grace) Angela Henry, Moderator

The discussion will be moderated by WCC lifetime member (Grace) Angela Henry, whose background in education, empowerment, and activism will encourage women to consider the wide range of ways they can get involved in their communities during and after the election.
