Today, you may notice a fresh new look for Women Creating Change. It reflects the momentum we’re building, with a website relaunch on the horizon!
110 Year's of WCC
Join us in celebrating 110 years of civic leadership by following the hashtag #110YearsofWCC. Throughout this campaign, we’ll honor WCC’s enduring legacy and highlight the transformational impact our members have made across generations.
The celebration will continue through January 31, the anniversary of our first official club meeting held on January 31, 1916.
Highlights
Here are just a few moments that moved our community, highlighted in our social campaign: 110 Years in Action.
- Championing Voting Rights: WCC was an active participant in the efforts to pass the 19th Amendment. More recently, WCC signed onto the Our City, Our Vote Coalition, which comprises dozens of nonprofits in New York and aims to extend voting rights to green card holders and those authorized to work in the United States.
- Fighting for Pay Equity: In partnership with The New School, WCC released a major report on why gender pay equity has stalled in New York City.
- Advocating for Housing Justice: From the 1930s to today, WCC has worked to ensure safe, affordable housing and women's leadership in housing policy.
- Promoting Reproductive Health: Since opening the first maternity center in 1918, WCC has championed access to reproductive healthcare and justice.
- Investing in Civic Leadership: From Frances Perkins to Eleanor Roosevelt, WCC has always empowered women to lead. Our programs continue that legacy today.
What Sets WCC Apart?
Data Driven. Community Centered. Advocacy Focused.
As we celebrate 110 years of advancing equity, we’re doubling down on what makes us powerful:
- Research that drives action, not just discussion
- Leadership grounded in lived experience, not titles
- Voices that don't just speak up, they shape policy
We believe that when women and gender expansive individuals are equipped with knowledge, community, and the right tools, they don’t just navigate systems, they transform them.
We’re highlighting this milestone through our 110 Year Campaign, which you can follow via the tag #110YearsofWCC

About
Women Creating Change (WCC), formerly known as the Women’s City Club of New York, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan activist organization dedicated to advancing women’s rights and shaping the future of New York City. Founded in 1915, WCC works to advance gender and racial equality by equipping women of color, women experiencing financial hardship, and gender-expansive individuals, with the knowledge, tools, and resources to advocate for the issues that matter most to them. WCC collaborates with partners, policymakers, and advocacy groups to drive real change in economic opportunity, education, healthcare, safety, reproductive justice, and environmental justice. WCC connects women with key stakeholders to learn, act, and engage. We empower women to lead change, shape policy, and strengthen communities, redesigning systems for a more equitable New York City. At WCC, we believe every woman has the power to make a difference. Visit wccny.org.
