Women Creating Change Announces Board Leadership Transition
As Sabrina Stratton completes her term as Chair of the Women Creating Change Board of Directors at the end of December, we are deeply grateful for her leadership and service to the organization.
Since joining the board in 2019 and serving as Secretary, Treasurer, and ultimately Chair, Sabrina has worked alongside dedicated women leaders advancing civic engagement, equity, and women’s leadership across New York City. During her tenure as Chair, WCC has continued to shape public policy and strengthen pathways for women’s leadership citywide.
While Sabrina is stepping down as Chair, we are pleased to share that she will continue serving on the Board of Directors and supporting WCC’s mission in new ways. She leaves the organization confident and well positioned for an impactful year ahead.
We are honored to announce that Penny Cagan has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2026. Penny brings deep leadership experience and a strong commitment to public service. Her background and vision will help guide Women Creating Change as the organization continues its more than century-long legacy of advancing equity and civic leadership in New York City.
We extend our sincere thanks to Sabrina for her dedication during this transformative period for WCC and warmly welcome Penny as we look ahead to this exciting new chapter.
About
Women Creating Change (WCC), formerly known as the Women’s City Club of New York, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan activist organization dedicated to advancing women’s rights and shaping the future of New York City. Founded in 1915, WCC works to advance gender and racial equality by equipping women of color, women experiencing financial hardship, and gender-expansive individuals, with the knowledge, tools, and resources to advocate for the issues that matter most to them. WCC collaborates with partners, policymakers, and advocacy groups to drive real change in economic opportunity, education, healthcare, safety, reproductive justice, and environmental justice. WCC connects women with key stakeholders to learn, act, and engage. We empower women to lead change, shape policy, and strengthen communities, redesigning systems for a more equitable New York City. At WCC, we believe every woman has the power to make a difference. Visit wccny.org.
