Communications and Marketing Intern
Job description
WCC is seeking a creative, driven intern to support our communications efforts and help amplify our civic engagement work in NYC. You’ll work closely with the Director of Communications on social media, writing, research, and content creation.
This is a great opportunity for a strong communicator with a passion for social impact, storytelling, and community engagement. If you’re ready to make a difference and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced nonprofit setting, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and schedule social media content to boost engagement.
- Draft newsletter content with team support.
- Improve email flows and data in Mailchimp.
- Write clear, engaging copy for digital and print.
- Support video content creation for campaigns.
- Assist with general marketing and communications projects.
Key Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication; fluent/native English (writing samples required).
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive team player.
- Passion for civic engagement, public policy, and gender equity.
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, PR, or related field.
- Comfortable working with diverse NYC communities.
- Creative thinker with problem-solving initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating written and video content.
- Familiarity with Mailchimp (email marketing, tagging, sequencing).
- Background in writing on child protection, law enforcement, or policy.
- Experience with CMS platforms.
Details:
- Start date: September 2025
- Hybrid: In-office days: Tuesday & Thursday.
- Compensation: $16-$22/Hour
- Duration: This internship requires a time commitment of 12-20 hours per week for a duration of at least 6 months.
