Comptroller Liu Honors Ethel Paley

NYC Comptroller John Liu honors WCC board member Ethel Paley on March 23, 2010 for her many contributions to the field of health.

Health care is an issue that looms large for all New Yorkers. The Women’s City Club advocates for public policies to improve the quality of, and access to, health care for all. We place special emphasis on overcoming barriers for the City’s low-income and immigrant populations, eliminating financial obstacles to health care, retaining and expanding insurance coverage for all New Yorkers and promoting universal health care. To magnify our impact, WCC joins forces with other organizations and coalitions that share our goals.

Through education, advocacy and publications, we inform and empower our members, representatives of other organizations, the general public and elected officials regarding public health issues and the need to support important legislation. A committee composed of practicing and retired health professionals, professionals in related fields and other interested WCC members directs our work in this area. Committee members take leadership in researching and formulating policies on priority health issues, often aided by graduate students who conduct background research.

Go to our Health Committee page for more information about current priorities and recent actions.
