Environment & Infrastructure

WCC members were shown details of the new subway tunnel under Roosevelt Island by MTA Chief of Construction Division Morris Loshinsky on May 21, 1974. The WCC continues to advocate for improvement of and funding for mass transit.

The Women’s City Club works to ensure a sustainable long-term future for New York City in light of a growing population, an aging infrastructure and an environment that is increasingly at risk. We advocate for environmental and other initiatives to improve mass transit, reduce traffic congestion, and expand green buildings, recycling and energy efficiency.

Enhancing compliance with recycling regulations and increasing materials that the City recycles are ongoing WCC priorities. This applies to every resident, business,  building, city agency and institution. After extensive research, WCC compiled written information and produced a video to help New Yorkers learn more about recycling and improve their own habits.
